アメリカに洞窟数多くあるといえども、美しさではこのソノラ洞窟が一番ではないでしょうか。スケールではカールズバッド洞窟などにかないませんが、繊細で美しい造形に目が釘付けになります。それにしても、アメリカNo.１ともいえるこの洞窟が国立公園でなく、民間資本で営利的に運営されているあたりは、アメリカ資本主義の面目躍如といったところでしょうか。
While there are great many numbers of caves and caverns in USA, I think the Caverns of Sonora are the most beautiful. Although Sonora is no match to, for example, the Carlsbad Caverns as far as its scale is concerned, we can see incredibly beautiful formations at Sonora. By the way, this possibly US No.1 cavern is managed by a private entity for profit. American capitalism!
