１９８９年に起きたタンカーの座礁・原油流出事故で一躍有名になったところです。今ではその面影もなく、「アラスカの小スイス」と呼ばれる美しい姿を見せてくれています。
Valdez is famous for shipwreck of a giant oil tanker of the same name and consequent oil spillover causing huge loss of wildlives. Now it has recovered its beauty as is called "Little Switzland in Alaska."
